I am currently a forest management scientist working for the state of Washington. My work includes timber harvest and reforestation planning, habitat development, and policy guidance. I am responsible for delivering continuing education and training to staff foresters and specialists as well as developing operational research projects and continuous development of operations in conjunction with changing markets and improvements in science. I am also involved with our wildland firefighting program and spend several weeks a summer assisting in wild fire suppression activities.
Having grown up in the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains, the forest environment and economy have always been a passion of mine. Through my education, work experience and research I have devoted my career to finding better ways to manage our natural resources that will provide a better natural environment for generations to come while supporting local economies. I have been fortunate to be able to gain research and industry experience in various regions of the United States, including, California (both Coastal Redwood and Sierra Nevada mixed conifer), Washington, Idaho, West Virginia, Virginia and South Carolina. |
